Spun is very happy to welcome Melvin Parson, founder of We the People Opportunity Farm, to the shop to help kick off our holiday sample sale. We have a stunning collection of over four dozen hand-knit and -crocheted pieces that we’re making available for sale, all crafted by Spun staff from Spun yarn. Our collection includes sweaters, shawls, hats, cowls, and more, knit from some of our favorite yarns, including Brooklyn Tweed, the Fibre Co., Shibui, and Woolfolk. The pieces are designed by some of the best in business, including Martina Behm, Melanie Berg, Jared Flood, Julie Hoover, Gudrun Johnston, and Joji Locatelli.

We’ll open the sale at noon on Saturday, November 20, and at 1pm Melvin will join us to share the story and vision behind his Ypsilanti-based initiative to create a sustainable farming system that supports a workforce of formerly incarcerated men and women. COVID willing, we’ll have a great selection of tea and sweet and savory treats as well as tea from our 4th Ave. neighbors at the Tea Haus.

Everyone who comes to Mr. Parson's talk will be entered into a drawing to win a Spun gift card. If you RSVP for the talk ahead of time by emailing info@spunannarbor.com, you’ll get an extra entry!

Last year our sample sale raised over $3,000 for We the People, and we’re aiming to top that this year! Every dollar from each sale goes directly to We the People. You can learn more about the farm, and donate directly, on their website.

We’ll have the samples available for sale through the holida (or as long as they last), so take advantage of this chance to pick up a true one-of-a kind piece (for yourself or as a gift!), all while supporting work that’s making a difference in our community every day.
